Committee Descriptions

Academic Affairs

AA deals with the concerns of the students that are related to academics. This can range from what classes are offered on campus to how the university deals with academic misconduct. Recent issues: chemistry building location, plus/minus grading system.

Congressional Administration

ConAd Committee deals with the subjects that are internal to UOSA. This includes appointing new members to Congress, organizing the UOSA elections process, regulating the Bylaws, and changing the constitution. This committee has to deal with complicated rules and bureaucratic processes more than any other committee. Recent issue: Election Rules

Executive Committee

Exec committee's membership consists of all of the leadership of Congress and the chair of each committee. This committee traditionally and statutorally deals with items such as attendance and is the communication forum between Congress Leadership and Committee Leadership.

External Affairs

EA is the liaison between Norman and the students of OU. They deal with any issue that isn't based here on campus. These issues can range from registering voters, talking to the Norman City Council, and dealing with traffic problems. Recent issues: Voter registration and Lighting in Greek communities

Problems and Projects

P&P is where most of the big projects go. This committee deals with any issue here on campus that is non academic. In the past it has addressed such concerns as parking, meal plans, and housing. Recent issues include: bike lanes, lighting, sidewalks, among other things.

Public Relations

PR ensures a good public image of Congress. They also help with advocating our position in a dynamic way. This is a new committee and really needs fresh ideas in promoting our work.

Ways and Means

WAM deals with all of the money that comes in and out of UOSA. It is the most time demanding committee and is responsible for allocating more than $600,000 among the clubs and organizations here on campus. They interview all these clubs during the budgetary process, as well as dealing with any legislation related to the budgetary process.
